Spintax

Nested Spintax Explained

Nested spintax places one variation structure inside another. It can create a large number of outputs from a compact template, but complexity grows quickly.

Why nest alternatives

Nesting is useful when one phrase has its own internal variations and should appear only inside a larger alternative.

Combination growth

Every nested choice can multiply the number of theoretical outputs. That can be useful for diversity but makes exhaustive review difficult.

Syntax risk

One missing brace or separator can break a complex template. Build from small validated blocks instead of writing deeply nested syntax in one pass.

Grammar risk

Alternatives that work alone may clash when combined. Pay attention to articles, singular/plural agreement, verb tense, punctuation, and pronouns.

Review strategy

Generate a representative sample, including edge combinations, and check both grammar and meaning. If a template is business-critical, favor simpler structures you can verify.

When not to nest

If the same result can be achieved with sentence-level alternatives or a few independent sets, simpler spintax is easier to maintain.
